How do you know what's the best way to feed, educate, and care for your dog(s)? With so much conflicting advice out there, how can you be sure you're doing the right thing?

What if that's the wrong question to ask? Are you up for an experiment?

The Trust Experiment

A quick guide to help dog lovers become the

confident advocate their dog needs

Leo wih the cone

When Leo got bitten by another dog at 11 months old and all I could do was scream, I knew I had to do better.

I did manage to pull him out of the shuffle and he didn't get seriously hurt but I do sometimes think he lost trust in me that day.

But it's also the day I decided to do whatever it took to become the advocate he needed and could rely on.

Protecting him from attacks (and well-meaning trainers trying to intimidate him into submission), taking care of his health and nutrition in a holistic way (often against the recommendations of local vets).

Standing up to what you could call "authorities" in the dog world, anyone who did/should know a lot more about dogs than me didn't come naturally to me, "Ms. Nice Girl" who would avoid conflict at any cost.

Turns out, my passion for the dogs and my commitment to being the best I could be for them brought out an assertiveness I didn't think I have in me.

And I realized in the process that the journey from desperately seeking and clinging to expert advice to trusting my own judgement above all else was exactly the same as the one I knew so well from other new beginnings - learning a new language (and anything else really), changing careers, moving countries or building businesses.

And this quick guide will help you realize that the confident advocate your dog needs is already inside of you too.

The thing is, you can talk about chocolate all you want. You won't know what it tastes like until you take a bite.

May 2005 - Leo a few days after we found each other in the cobble-stoned streets of Granada, Spain

With my sweet girl Hada, who has the patience of a saint with puppy Lea

Hi, I'm Anke

The human behind Soul Touched by Dogs

I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember.

According to my grandma, my dad's dog Bodo "helped raise me" throughout the first couple of years of my life. Maybe that's where the love comes from.

But as a child, and later working in corporate jobs, I couldn't have a dog if I didn't want him to be at home alone all day (in the days before doggie daycare)

So it wasn't until I moved to Spain and started my own business that I could work from home and finally have my own dog.

Leo and I found each other on a hot day in May 2005, in the cobble-stoned streets of Granada.

4 months old, scared of male voices, cars, broomsticks. Obsessed with shoes, socks and (the contents of) rubbish bins.

"Oh, he's so lucky you found him," people said.

"I'm the lucky one," I'd reply.

Turns out that this dog, and the three that came after him, taught me more than I ever imagined.

I created Soul Touched by Dogs to share some of those lessons with other dog lovers, AND to give YOU a space to share yours.

Bodo - my dad's dog who started it all for me

July 2023 - me checking if I can still lift up 10 months old Spanish Mastiff puppy Lea, and Cai taking advantage of the situation 🤣

These four below are the dogs who have enriched my life way beyond my wildest hopes.
